Wait, Nobody Warned Me It Would Be Like This

Motherhood, they said. You’ll love it, they said. And they were right — but they conveniently left out the part where you’re standing in the Target snack aisle at 9pm in yesterday’s leggings, holding a bag of goldfish crackers like it’s a trophy, wondering when you last washed your hair. That’s modern motherhood. Gloriously chaotic, deeply loving, and nothing like the Instagram highlight reel.

Hi, I’m Emily. Millennial mom, recovering over-planner, and the person behind Millennial Mothers.

A Little About Me

I became a mom in my early thirties, which meant I showed up to the parenting game with strong opinions about avocado toast, a deeply personal relationship with my carry-on suitcase, and zero idea how to get a toddler to eat anything green. I’m a fashion lover who now considers “did I get spit-up on this?” a legitimate style checkpoint. I believe that real food matters, that travel with kids is absolutely worth the chaos, and that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish — it’s survival.

I started this site because I kept looking for a place that felt honest. Not perfectly curated. Not preachy. Just real talk from someone who’s actually in it.

What We Talk About Here

Millennial Mothers is built around four things I genuinely care about:

  • Fashion — Style doesn’t have to disappear when the baby arrives. We talk real-world outfits, mom-friendly wardrobe swaps, and how to feel like yourself again (even on three hours of sleep).
  • Health & Wellness — Not the kind that requires a gym membership and a 5am alarm. The kind that fits into actual life — mental health, movement, rest, and not running on fumes 24/7.
  • Food & Nutrition — Feeding your family real, nourishing food without spending your entire Sunday in the kitchen. Recipes, meal ideas, and honest takes on what actually works.
  • Travel with Kids — Yes, it’s harder. Yes, it’s worth it. Practical tips, destination guides, and the stuff nobody tells you before you book the flight.

The Mission

No judgment here. No “you should be doing it this way.” Just a space where millennial and Gen Z moms can find practical advice, laugh at the hard stuff, and feel a little less alone in the beautiful mess of raising tiny humans.

I’m not a parenting expert. I’m not a nutritionist or a personal stylist. I’m just a mom who reads a lot, tries things, fails sometimes, and shares what I actually learn along the way.

Come Say Hi

If any of this sounds like your kind of place, welcome. Pull up a chair (or just scroll from your phone while your kid watches Bluey — no judgment). I’d love to hear from you, swap stories, or just have someone to commiserate with.

You can reach me anytime at our contact form. This community is better when we’re in it together.
